Hello everyone..! John here…Well here i have Chapter 2 on Google Search Console. Here you will learn how to add a site and also to verify it . So that you can start using Search console itself. Lets get started on Google Search Console Adding and Verifying a Site .
Adding A Site
So first up …Click on “Add Property” to add you site. Once you click , You will then be asked to enter your Web Address. If you have an SSL Certificate installed, Make sure you choose “https://”.
Verifying your Site
You will then be directly asked to verify your Website. You can do this by following the process above. Or, You can select the “Alternate Methods” if you are not sure where to begin. So i will be guiding you completely with this Alternate Method. So as you can see, here’s a total of 4 methods that we can use to verify our site. I will be guiding you with the “HTML tag”, Simply because this is very much suited for beginners. .. Follow along
Just click on this Menu and copy the code .It looks something like this:
<meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”KohF4srUen65G9UBx8JnXIcOsgv0c2FkwirtUT-WiNs” />
So now you will have to visit your Site and paste the code. Here’s How:
1. Visit your Theme’s Editor section
2. Click on “Theme Header” on the Right Hand Side. It’s under the section “Theme Files”.
3. Now paste it between the <HEAD> Tag. That is between <head> and </head> .
4. After doing this, Make sure to click “Update File” on your editor.
Now Get back to Google Search console and just click on “Verify” .Remember, If you use this method. Make sure not to remove this code even after verification.
Here is how it should look:
<meta name=“google-site-verification” content=”KohF4srUen65G9UBx8JnXIcOsgv0c2FkwirtUT-WiNs” />
<title> Ordinary Office </title>
You can directly “Add” and or “link” your Google analytics account to make your verification even easier. In my case , i used my Analytics account and the process took just around a minute.
So on the next chapter, We will learn how to “Fetch As Google”. So that we can start submitting our links to Google.
