Hello all. This is John Daimary. Here i will teach you “ How To Limit Login Attempts” for WordPress. The reason why it’s important to limit login attempts is because of hackers! Now we all know that most of the WP user’s Username is set to “Admin”. Now the hacker will just try getting into your account by entering your Pets Name, Mothers Name, Your Phone Number etc. as a password. Hence, They try a lot of times by typing different different passwords. When matched with your original password. What then?
Here in this post, I will teach you exactly How to limit login attempts ” for WordPress. You do not need to hire anybody expert here. You can do it all by yourself. Just follow the steps below. By the way, you cannot do this if you are a WP.com user (Unless you have a business plan).
1. Install Plugin: Loginizer by Raj Kothari
By default, WP does not include login attempt limiter. You will first have to install this plugin and Activate it. As far as price is concerned. It is free to use but with limited features.
2. Go to
After the installation, You will first have to access the settings page in order to set up all the limits.
Steps are: Loginizer Security>Brute Force Attacks>Brute Force settings
There you go. Now you can set up Maximum Retries and also Maximum Lockouts. And you can also set up your reset value. It’s that easy.
Just make sure not to enter a value of 1. This will allow you to enter your credentials correctly only once! And if you fail, You might have to wait until the next Lockout. Let’s say, You didn’t do the previous step. Someone else did. Now?
I would strongly recommend you to choose a strong password instead. I once set the limit to just 1 and even the lockout time was 24 Hours.! I had to wait for a complete 1 day to just access my dashboard. That’s when i deactivated this plugin.
