How to use the Dodge Tool in Adobe Photoshop?

Hey there everybody. I am John Daimary here, and in this post. I will be teaching you guys about How to use the Dodge Tool in Adobe Photoshop. But before that. Let’s get to know what is the Dodge Tool? So, Dodge tool is simply used to lighten the pixels of an image. So if you have an image, more probably an old certificate. You will get to see some dark edges and also some dark spots along with a very old ancient look. So with this tool, the Dodge Tool. You can lighten those areas and make your images Bright and Clean.

Not only the above. If you mix it up with your creativity, you will then be capable of unleashing the power of Dodge tool, LOL. Hey?, How About editing an Illustration? Don’t you think a brush capable of lightening and darkening an area would be great? Of course. You can do this both with the help of Dodge Tool. But for darkening the pixels. You will need to use the Burn Tool. More on that on my next post.

So here is How to use the Dodge Tool in Adobe Photoshop :

1. First up. Set your images ready for the edit. I would suggest you to search for some images on the net with some dark and unusual dirt, probably some old letters and or applications. To make everything easy, Just use any image for your experiments.

2. Now click on Dodge Tool. Dodge tool looks almost as same as Magic Wand Tool. But without the feathers. You know, It actually looks like a magnifying glass, A black Magnifying glass.

3. Now you will see your pointer changing its shape to a Circular Object.

4. So now just carry on with your project by simply Clicking and Dragging over the desired area. You will be amazed to see the pixels getting brightened .

And if you want to get more creative with your ideas, Look on the top left menu bar. Below that, You will be capable of seeing the Brush and its pointers, it’s just shapes and sizes. You can control everything in Adobe Photoshop and get your hands dirty.
